Obituary of Angelo John Rizzone
Angelo John Rizzone, 80, of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Jacquelyn (Hitchings) Rizzone with whom he shared over 59 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Angelo and Mary (Mallia) Rizzone. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate and president of Peabody High School, class of 1949. He graduated with honors fromTufts University in 1953 with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and was a proud member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
John, as most people knew him, started his career as a chemical engineer at Mobil Oil Company in New Jersey. He studied at Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute as well as Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, while working at Mobil. He then moved back to Peabody and spent the next 28 years at Eastman Gelatine Company, developing many manufacturing processes. John created and managed the Water Department, where he had overall responsibility for the high purity water supply at Eastman Gelatine and he became an expert in ground water hydrology.
John enjoyed music and was a professional drummer for many years. He loved reading and working at the computer. He was a charter member of the Lions Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Mark Rizzone of Woburn, his two daughters, Donna and her husband Dr. William Cote of Poughquag, NY and Mary Rizzone of Peabody, his brother, Dr. George Rizzone and his wife, Elisa of Lynnfield, his two grandchildren, Philip Cote of Philadelphia, PA and Adam and his wife Marissa Cote of Brooklyn, NY and also by two nieces, Dr. Andrea Rizzo and her husband Rosario of Stow and Lisa Rizzone of Billerica.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA01923.
