Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" O'Brien

Gerald H. O’Brien, 72, died at his home on Sunday August 26, 2012. Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late William and Rita (Musto) O’Brien. He grew up in Marblehead, which was an inspiration for his love of the ocean. Mr. O’Brien was a very independent spirit. It is from his passion for the ocean that he enjoyed wooden boats. Gerry worked at several jobs during his life. He was a stone cutter with O’Rourke Memorials, and was a Sheet Metal Mechanic with Essex County Craftsman and also with B & D Sheet Metal in Marblehead. He also moved around much, and found periodic maintenance jobs to occupy his time. He enjoyed Gaelic music for his Irish heritage and country music. He was married to Roberta Joyce Miller, then to Eileen (O’Shea) O’Brien before being divorced. He was the father of 10, four of whom live on the North Shore, Wayne, Mark, Michael, and Cynthia. He was the brother of the late Carol Ann Lowe of Marblehead. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 4:30 PM (rain or shine) at Devereux Beach in Marblehead to reflect his love of the ocean.
