Obituary of Elizabeth M (French) Greeley
Elizabeth M. (French) Greeley, 90, of Peabody and formerly of Swampscott, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2012 at the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village, Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Herbert S. Greeley.
Born in Sunderland, MA on June 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Willard K. and Louise G. French. She was raised and educated in Worcester and was a graduate ofWorcester North High School. She later lived in Swampscott and has spent the last few years living in Peabody at Brooksby Village.
After high school, Elizabeth attended College at Westbrook Junior College in Maine for two years. She then worked as lab technician for several doctors in the Salem area before she retired.
While living in Swampscott, she was an active member of the Central Congregational Church in Lynn and a long term volunteer at the Church’s thrift shop. Elizabeth enjoyed reading, needlework, gardening, genealogy and square dancing.
She is survived by her three sons, Douglas and his wife Jean of Bloomfield, NJ, Stuart and his wife Colleen of Lynn, Philip of Lynn, her daughter-in-law, Patricia of Groveland and is also survived by her six grandchildren, Elizabeth Ostendorp, Kerry LoPorto, Catherine, Brian, Cailin, and Matthew Greeley and by her three great grandchildren, Cole and Marshall LoPorto and Aiden Greeley. She was predeceased by her son Ronald Greeley and by a brother Arthur French, and two sisters, Carolyn Cameron and Dorothy Kelleher.
Her Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial services will be private.
