Obituary of John J. "Jack" Galvin

John J. “Jack” Galvin John J. “Jack” Galvin, 64, beloved husband of Eva (Kirlis) Galvin of Peabody, passed away peacefully at his home while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Hannon) Galvin. He grew up in Peabody, and graduated from Peabody High School. He then went into the Coast Guard Reserves which he served for six years. Mr. Galvin was a machinist with General Electric in Lynn, and retired six years ago. Jack will be remembered as one who was very dedicated to his family, and taught that family values were most important. He enjoyed cooking, made his own wine and beer, and always carried himself in an authentic, genuine manner. He would do anything for his family and friends he liked. He is survived by his wife Eva (Kirlis) Galvin of Peabody, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law, John & Karen Galvin of Reading and Robert & Martina Galvin of Middleton; five grandchildren, Luke, Joshua, and Zachary Galvin of Reading and Nathaniel & Alexandra Galvin of Middleton; a brother Michael Galvin of NH; two sisters, Mary Fran Shirley and Sally Ann Cassidy both of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for his Funeral Service on Wednesday October 3, 2012 at 10 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 – 8 P.M. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place west, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
