Obituary of Gloria A. (Peterson) White

Gloria A. (Peterson) White PEABODY—Gloria A. (Peterson) White, 76, beloved wife of Murray White of Peabody, passed away peacefully at Saints Medical Center Hospital in Lowell, following a long illness. Born in Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Sproule) Peterson. She grew up on the family’s farm, Pinecroft Farm, which was transformed into many housing developments off Birch St. in West Peabody. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1953 and was a lifelong resident of the city. She also attended Burdette College in Lynn for administration and secretarial school. Mrs. White worked as an operator on switchboard at Salem Country Club for a short time. She also worked as a Medical Secretary for Salem Pediatrics and Drs. McKeague, Hagele and DeSouza. Gloria enjoyed her nurturing role as mother and grandmother, and was very supportive of her sons and grandchildren sporting events and games. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls growing up, and was a Leader with the Cub Scouts and Webelows with Pack 59 of West Peabody. She enjoyed traveling with her husband on cruises and visiting casinos, and was an avid baseball fan and Red Sox Nation. She is survived by her husband Murray White of Peabody, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave & Carol White of Peabody and Mike & Gail White of Millstone Township, NJ; seven grandchildren, Stefanie Rogers, Matt White, Michelle, Ashley and Rachel White, and Samantha and Megan White; a sister, Sandra and Mitch DeMaree of Kensington, NH, and nieces Bonnie, Brenda, and Barbara DeMaree. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by a son Gary White and a granddaughter Jennifer White, and a brother George Peterson, Jr. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service on Friday October 12, 2012 at 11 AM in West Congregational Church, Johnson St. Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 – 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
