Obituary of Antonio J Santos

Antonio J. Santos Jr., 86, of Peabody, died on Thursday September 13, 2012 at Vista Care Hospice in Columbus, GA. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Demeule) Santos. Born in Peabody on September 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Antonio and Olive (Silva)Santos. Antonio was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Navy aboard the USS William P. Biddle. His decorations include World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and Asiatic Pacific Area Medal. After the war, he worked as a foreman for many chemical companies on the North Shore Area including Borden Chemical for seven years before he retired. He was a life long member of the Peabody Elks Lodges BPOE 1409 and past Exalted Ruler and was a proud member of the Portuguese American War Veterans club. He is survived by two sons, Anthony and Thomas Santos, both of Salem, his daughter Michelle Torres of Fortson,GA, and is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Richard Santos, Evelyn Labao, and Dorothy O'Leary. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church Margin St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association or Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Center Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904.
