Obituary of Sr. Marie Patricia Lucey SND

Sister Marie Patricia Lucey SND, of Worcester, died peacefully on October 20, 2012 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester. Sr. Marie Patricia Lucey was born inCambridgeon February 9, 1917, daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Ellen (Hogan) Lucey and was named Catherine Cecilia Lucey. Sr. Marie Patricia entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur inWalthamon August 4, 1935 and professed her perpetual vows on July 30, 1943. Sister received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Emmanuel College and her Masters in Education from Salem State University. She received her certification form theCommonwealthofMassachusettsin 1964. Her elementary teaching ministries were in Springfield, Woburn, Lawrence, Worcester, Salem, Connecticut and Cambridge. She is survived by her many sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, her nephews, David Lucey of Stoneham and Daniel Lucey of Somerville. Sister was predeceased by her nine siblings, Jerry, John, Charles, Francis, Daniel, Walter and Mary Lucey, Lena Lillis and Marie Sullivan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Road, Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 1 to 3 PM at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Ipswich. A prayer Service will be held at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in Sister Marie Patricia’s name to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA01938.
