Obituary of Catherine Doris (Hammond) Donovan

Catherine Doris (Hammond) Donovan, 90, of West Peabody, died Saturday at the Cedar Glenn Nursing Home, Danvers after a long illness. She was the wife of the late James C. Donovan. She was born in Revere, Ma on September 9, 1915, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Lynch) Hammond and had resided there and in Medford before moving to Peabody 41 years ago. She had been employed at the Marshall’ s Distribution Center in Woburn for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1982. She liked to travel and also sewing and crocheting. She is survived by 2 sons and daughter-in-laws, Richard A. and Lillian Donovan of North Reading, John F. Donovan of Danvers and Patricia Donovan of Dorchester, a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and James Mc Gillicuddy of Fredericksburg, VA, 7 grandchildren, a great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of James Gerald Donovan who also died on Saturday, November 5. and the sister of the late Frank Hammond. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday from the Funeral home at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 AM Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
