Obituary of Manuel R Brasil
Manuel R Brasil, 86, of Peabody, died Sunday afternoon at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Idalina (Vieira) Brasil of Peabody and the late Maria U. Brasil.
Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria A Brasil. He immigrated to the United States in 1980 and settled in Peabody where he has lived for the past 32 years.
While living in Portugal, Manuel worked on the farm and later while living in Peabody, he worked as a baker for Mello’s Bakery for a couple of years, and finally, before retiring, he worked for Altron in Wilmington as an operator for twelve years.
Manuel was a member of the Clube de Camoes and the Holy Ghost, both inPeabody.
Besides his wife of fourteen years, he is survived by his daughters, Maria “Nelinha” and her husband George Silva and Maria “Saozinha” and her husband Valter Melo, all of Peabody, two sisters, Palmira and Custodia Brasil, both of Portugal and is also survived by four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hernandez, Mark Silva, Tania Melo and Andrea Melo and by four great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
