Irene F. (Sullivan) Pinkham
PEABODY—Irene F. (Sullivan) Pinkham, 87, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Pinkham, passed away peacefully at the Meadowview Care and Rehab Facility in North Reading on Thursday October 25, 2012.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Mahoney) Sullivan. She grew up in Boston where she attended schools. She lived in Peabody for the last 48 years, and also lived at Brooksby Village with her husband for seven years until he died in 2011.
Mrs. Pinkham was a hairdresser in her younger years. She developed skills for doing manicures, and was known as “The Traveling Manicurist,” as she provided a service bringing her skills to peoples homes throughout the North Shore area.
Irene loved painting ceramics, traveling to Europe, Foxwoods and Las Vegas, and was a devoted caregiver for her grandchildren. She enjoyed living in a dedicated and close family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn Kurkowski of Peabody and her late husband Phillip, Eileen Carey & her husband Ron of Halifax, and Janet Penney & her husband Richard of Lynn; four grandchildren, Jason & his wife Jacqueline Kurkowski, Matthew and Timothy Kurkowski, and Suzanne & her husband Ty Calder of FL, four great-grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Randal, and Robbie; two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, John & Stella Pinkham of Malden and Pat Collins of NH, and she leaves many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by her sisters Margaret Collins, Ruth Yenacco, and Ann Marie McGilvary.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday Nov. 3, 2012 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. Visiting hours held on Friday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
