Obituary of Frank J. Firicano

Frank J. Firicano LYNNFIELD—Frank J. Firicano, 86, beloved husband of the late Evelyn (McDonough) Firicano, and also the late Maria (Perez Frias) Firicano, died peacefully at his home Friday morning October 26, 2012, following a long illness. Born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Christina (Mamone) Firicano. He lived there as a young boy, then immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in the North End of Boston for many years. He later moved to Somerville with his wife Evelyn and children Christine and Anthony, before settling in Peabody for over 40 years. He most recently resided in Lynnfield. Mr. Firicano was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He then was self-employed as a commercial fisherman. Later he was hired with the Environmental Police, where he was promoted to Captain of the State Patrol boat, the Jesse, and remained for many years until he retired. Frank was a member of the Mass Police Association, and also enjoyed playing poker and other card games. He lived for his family and was happiest when surrounded by them, great Italian food, lively conversation, and Frank Sinatra’s music. The sea and fishing were lifelong passions. His life was long and full of love, loss, happiness and above all, family. He always had a story to tell. Now we will be the ones telling the stories about him and his life. He is survived by three sons, Anthony Firicano and his wife Tina (Heath) of Rowley, Joseph Firicano and his wife Shauna (Lally) of Winthrop, Frank Firicano and his wife Leslie (Bilosz) of Medford, NJ; three daughters, Christine Firicano-Carr and her husband Steven of Lynnfield, Donna Remmes and her husband Gregory of Wrentham, and Gina Firicano of Lynnfield; a step-son Richard Firicano of Mobile, AL; nine grandchildren, Laura Spinello, Nicholas Firicano, Steven Carr, Catherine Carr, Evan Remmes, Kyleigh Remmes, Jordyn Remmes, Frank Firicano, and Julia Firicano; two brothers, Alfonso Firicano and his wife Pauline of Hallendale, FL and Albert Firicano and his wife Linda of Malden; a sister, Josephine Kiley and her husband John of Medford, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wives and parents, by brothers Paul and Salvatore, and a sister Vincenza Flynn. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for his Funeral Service on Friday November 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 – 7 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn.
