Obituary of Evelyn Krotoschin

Peabody, March 14, 2003. Evelyn (Huber) Krotoschin, 97, of Peabody, died early Friday afternoon at the Montserrat Nursing Home in Beverly, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Herman Krotoschin. Born and raised in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Mr.& Mrs. Julia (Saffer) Huber. She lived in New York for over 72 years before moving to Peabody 25 years ago. While living in New York, she worked as a dietitian for many New York Hospitals. She also had attended the Worlds Fair in New York and was hostess at the Rhinegold Brewery Building. She retired in 1978 and moved to Peabody, where she began her career as a volunteer. She had volunteered for over 15,000 at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital, Lahey Clinic, and the Visiting Nurse Association, all in Peabody. In 1996, she was honored with the Volunteer Award from Mayor Peter Torigian, former Mayor of Peabody. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and sewing. She is survived by a son, William Krotoschin of Peabody, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert H. Krotoschin and Dorothy Messner. Her Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be prior to service from 2-4 PM. Burial will be private.
