Obituary of Gerard O "Gerry" Ouellette
Gerard O. “Gerry” Ouellette, 84, of Peabody passed away on Wednesday, October 31 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Lorraine (Girard) (Pelletier) Ouellette with whom he shared over 30 years of marriage. He was a soft-spoken gentleman devoted to his wife and special needs daughter and stepson. They enjoyed many family trips together and gatherings with close friends.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Oscar and Marie Ann (Levesque) Ouellette. He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Salem.
He was employed for 60 years at Ruggles & Klingemann Company, previously of Salem, Mass., and now of Seabrook, N.H. He retired as a Plant Superintendent and continued on as an historian consultant during his illness.
Gerry was a member and trustee for many years at the BPOE Elks Lodge #1409 in Peabody. He volunteered for 18 years with the Special Olympics and was a member of the 21 Associates and Knights of Columbus of Castle Hill in Salem.
In his youth, he was a member of the Palmer Cove Baseball League of Salem.
Gerry was a loving stepfather and father-in-law to Denise Pelletier Royal and her companion Paul Lacritz ofSalem; Paul Pelletier and his wife Caren of Rowley; Marc Pelletier of Peabody; and Michelle Pelletier Marshall and her husband Timothy of Rowley. He also had five children with his first wife, Florence (Michaud) Ouellette, who died in 1979. They, and their spouses, are Diana (Ouellette) Peterson and her husband Kirk of Niceville, Fla.; Claudia (Ouellette) Ganey and her husband Michael of Rowley; Ronald Ouellette and his wife Dianne of Northwood, N.H.; Patricia Ouellette of Peabody; and Brian Ouellette of Salisbury.
He is also survived by two sisters: Rita Ouellette of Spencer and Pauline Lavalle and her husband Paul of Seabrook; and one brother Paul Ouellette and his wife Sharon of Westboro. He was the brother and brother-in-law of the late Lorraine and Roy Stockton of Salem. He also leaves brothers-in-law Francis Girard and his wife Henriette of Gloucester, and Paul Girard and his wife Lorraine of Danvers.
Gerry leaves five grandsons: Matthew Royal, Michael Pelletier, Hayden Marshall, Christopher Pelletier and Dylan Marshall; and two granddaughters: Jennifer Webber and Julie Duchemin; and four great grandchildren: Jessica and Joe Duchemin and Jennifer and Tim Webber; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday November 5, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Peabody Council on Aging, 75 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960.
