Obituary of Catherine M. "Kay" (Brawders) Dunleavy

Catherine M. Kay (Brawders) Dunleavy, 78 years, of Peabody, devoted wife of 54 years of Francis X. Frank Dunleavy who died on December 16, 2002, died Saturday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington after a brief illness. Mrs. Dunleavy was born November 4, 1924 in Charlestown daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (Horgan) Brawders. She was raised in Salem and graduated from St. James Girls High School class of 1942. Following her marriage in 1948 she moved to Peabody. Mrs. Dunleavy was employed as an office clerk at the former Weber’ s Store in Salem and retired from the former Boyle machine in Peabody in 1975. She was a member of St. John’ s Ladies Sodality. She is survived by a son, Kevin F. Dunleavy of Lynn; a daughter and her husband, Lauren A. and George Grenier of Peabody; 2 surrogate sons and their wives, Glenn and Susan Keith of Salem NH, David and Lila Keith of LaJolla CA; 6 grandchildren, Kyle and Casey Grenier of Peabody, Jillian and Abby Keith of NH, Austin and Sean Keith of CA; 3 cousins Ann and Thomas Champagne of Peabody and Margie Wolfenden of No.Andover; a sister-in-law, May McDermott of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody location (978-531-0472) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem-Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
