Obituary of Mary J. (San Filippo) D'Amico

Mary J. (San Filippo) D’Amico, 89, a lifelong resident of Saugus, died peacefully early Tuesday morning surrounded by her loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph D’Amico with whom she shared 49 years of marriage before his passing in 1994. She was born in Saugus on April 24, 1923, the daughter of the late Leonard and Maria (Naso) San Filippo and had resided there most of her life. She was the epitome of a hostess and her parties always were overflowing with delicious food and her humor always provided the entertainment. She made countless friends due to her passionate involvement in numerous organizations. She was a founding member or chairperson many boards including the Ballard School PTA, Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment (SAVE) and the US Coast Guard Spencer Association. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Mary leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Stephen Polley of Lynnfield, a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Patricia D’Amico of Revere, her cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Comeau and her husband Parry of Lynn, Stephen Polley and his wife Hillary of Vassalboro, ME, and Annmarie and Joseph D’Amico both ofRevere, her five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John and Sebastian “Bucky” San Filippo. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St.,Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius Church,Maple St.,Lynn, at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of North Shore,75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers,MA 01923 or to the charity of your choice.
