Obituary of Hugh J. O'Rourke, Jr.

Hugh J. O’ Rourke Jr., 58 years died Sunday at the Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. O’ Rourke was born July 2, 1947 in Peabody son of the late Dr. Hugh J. and Mary A. (Murphy) O’ Rourke. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1966. He resided in Peabody before moving to Salem in 1999. Mr. O’ Rourke began his 30 year working career as a technician at the former Salem Auto Spring and was presently employed in the same capacity at Brake & Clutch Inc. in Salem. For many years he was the drummer with the LeBlanc Brothers Band and played at several nightclubs on the North Shore. Mr. O’ Rourke was a member of Ward 2 Social Club, AOH Division 18 both in Salem, St. Michael’ s Society and the Peabody Lodge of Elks # 1409 both in Peabody. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and playing pool. He is survived by his 5 children and their spouses, Shaun M. and Weedaad O’ Rourke of New York, NY; Brian J. and Claudia O’ Rourke, Breanne M. O’ Rourke, Ian M. and Kimberly O’ Rourke and Garrett H. O’ Rourke all of Peabody; 3 sisters and their husbands, Eileen and William Montbleau of FL, Miriam and John Sullivan and Janet and William Murphy all of Peabody; his former wives, Patricia R. Corning and Ginny R. O’ Rourke both of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. His sister Rosemary Bayne predeceased him. His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Lupus Foundation, 40 Speen St., Suite 201, Framingham MA 01701. Cremation will follow services.
