I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Zapantis's passing. He was my homeroom teacher and Bio teacher for 3 yrs at Beverly High. I can still hear his voice as he reprimanded me daily for arriving late and then was forced to send me to detention once again! I knew deep inside he hated doing it but had to avoid showing favoritism (and in my heart i know i was his favorite, Lol) He was an exceptional teacher with an obvious passion for what he did and who had a way of making everyone feel like his favorite! Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

My deepest sympathy to the Zapantis family, especially Diane. I met Michael briefly and knew from that meeting that he was a great asset to educating children. Had he been the superintendent of Ashburnham-Westminster just a few years earlier I know that my son would have liked it better there. But your husband, father and brother realized that my son needed more than what was offered at his school and helped me transfer my son, because he knew it was for the best. My son is now working on becoming a master chef because of Michael Zapantis' recognition that the student comes first. That is what impressed me the most about my first and only meeting with Michael Zapantis almost 10 years ago, he is an educator that makes a difference that lasts forever. God Bless
