Obituary of Aspasia Tilas

Aspasia Tilas, 87, of Peabody died peacefully Sunday at the Kaplan Family Hospice house inDanvers. She was the loving wife of the late Pandi Tilas who died in 1981. She was born in Skala,Messina,Greece on November 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Ioannis and Chrisoula (Stathakis) Hondrobaskopoulos and was raised there before immigrating to Peabody,MA in 1955. Aspasia had been employed in the Shoe Industry working at the Duchess Footwear and later at Claymon Brothers both in Salem for 30 years prior to her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed doing gardening around her home, cooking and sewing but mostly caring for her family, especially her 2 grandchildren. She was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by a son Cary Tilas of Peabody, her two daughters and a son-in-law, Beatrice and Scott Thibedeau of Rowley, Joanne Tilas of Peabody and her companion, Charles Salemi of Reading ; two brothers, Peter Hondrobaskopoulos of Chicago, IL and Apostoles Hondrobaskopoulos of Athens, Greece, two grandchildren, Paul and Kathryn Thibedeau of Rowley and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Christos Hondrobaskopoulos and Vasaliki Papachronopoulos. A Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 until 11:15 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St.Peabody facility followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vasilios Bell Tower Fund, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA01960in her memory.
