Obituary of Martha W (Lovell) Roy
Martha W (Lovell) Roy, 77, of Swampscott, died early Friday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Roland Roy with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Helen (Dixon) Lovell. She was raised and educated in Hartford and was a graduate of Buckeley High School in Hartford.
Martha worked for the Department of Environment Protection as an accountant for over 35 years in Boston before she retired. Family was everything to Martha and she enjoyed spending time with children and later her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sharing in all of their endeavors.
Besides her loving husband, Roland, she is survived by two sons, Gary and his wife Nancy Roy of Enfield,CT., and Roland and his wife Theresa Roy of Sutton, Alaska, her daughter, Helen and her husband John Newton of Lynn, her sister, Joan and her husband Fred Delany of Hartford, CT., and is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Following cremation, her visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial services will be private on Wednesday at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston, Maine.
