Obituary of Shirley A. (Chase) Angelakis

Shirley A. (Chase) Angelakis, 73, o f Salem, died Tuesday evening at the Hunt Retirement and Rehab. Center,Danvers with her family by her side. Shirley was born on May 29, 1939, the 8th of nine children of Raymond Edward and Ruth Irene (Horne) Chase and was raised and educated in Salem graduating from Salem High School in 1957 as an Andrews Scholar. She had worked as a secretary in the Salem/Peabody area for many years and it was at one of these offices that she met her future husband-to-be. On April 16, 1961, she married her husband Theodore G. “Teddy” Angelakis and had celebrated 51 years of marriage. Shirley is also survived by her children, Theodore G. Angelakis and his wife Susan of Wells, Maine, Daniel E. Angelakis and his wife Nicole of Salem, MA and her daughter, Pamela Angelakis of Peabody., her cherished grandchildren, Zoe, Olivia, Christopher and Katie Angelakis, her sisters, Lois Mahoney and Helen Chase and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Barbara Porter, Joanne Thomas, Lorraine Mallia , Susan Mallie, Ray Chase Jr. and Burt Chase. Shirley loved music and singing , reading good books and enjoyed cooking for her family, especially making her famous breads during the holidays. Along with her family, she summered along the coast of Maine from Ogunquit up toBar Harbor. She also like to keep fit and spent many hours with her husband Teddy at the Gym. He most treasured moments were the times spent with her husband and family. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Her Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the FirstBaptistChurch, 1 Water St., Danversat 10:00 AM with Rev. John G. Mulvihill, pastor officiating. Burial will be in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1 Water St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church Bell Tower Restoration Fund, 5 Paleologos St., Peabodyin her memory.
