Obituary of Peter W. MacDonald

Peter W. MacDonald, 90, of Lynn, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Grosvenor Park in Salem with his family at his side. Peter was born in Lynn, on December 13, 1921, son of Peter J. and Mary (Morrison) MacDonald. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1940. In October of 1943, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Asiatic, Pacific Area participating in the occupation of China, and being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in August 1946. Peter was employed for 35 years at the General Electric Riverworks Lynn Powerhouse Plant as a steam fitter until his retirement in 1976. As an avid Golfer he was a member at Gannon Municipal Golf Course in Lynn and during the winter months enjoyed playing on Cape Cod with his golfing buddies. He belonged to the G.E. Bowling League and enjoyed playing cribbage. Peter is survived by his brother, John A. MacDonald of Middleton, his nieces, nephews and their spouses, John A. MacDonald of Salem, Mary E. and Curt Bellavance of Peabody, Karen A. and John Lynch of Weston, FL, Barbara J. and Greg Story, and Eileen M. and Michael O’Donnell all of Middleton; a cousin, Sister Theresa Currie of Nova Scotia; many grand nieces and grand nephews. His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
