Obituary of William F. Pierce

William F. Pierce, 84, of Peabody, died on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center. He was the husband of Elda D. (Corti) Pierce with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Mr. Pierce was born in Lynn on March 12, 1928, son of the late William F. Pierce, Sr., and Sarah E. (Powers) Pierce. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1945 and Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in 1947. He moved to Peabody in 1964 and lived there for the rest of his life. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War serving with the Finance Co., 25th Infantry Division. Before his retirement, he was employed in the capacity of Office Manager and Controller for various businesses in Boston and on the North Shore for a period of 40 years. He was a loving father who devoted his life to creating a home for his family. Later he was so proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. William was a proud member of the Northshoremen Barbershop Chorus of Beverly for many years. One of his many joys was singing and harmonizing with anyone who would join him. He wrote his memoirs and poems, and a very special poem for his wife in celebration of their 57th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed watching football, gardening, reading and fishing. Surviving him besides his wife are his children and their spouses, David Pierce of Peabody, Michael and Virginia Pierce of Andover, Maureen Melloni and Robert Melloni Jr. of Peabody; a brother and his wife, John and June Pierce of Peabody; 5 grandchildren, David Pierce and his wife Louise, Scott Pierce all of Lynn, Christopher and Jennifer Melloni of Peabody, and Malorie Pierce of Murrietta, CA; 4 great grandchildren, Devin, Dennis, Elizabeth and Kayleigh Pierce and many nieces and nephews. William’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody followed by burial of ashes at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
