Obituary of Raymond E. Phillips

Raymond E. Phillips, 85, of Peabody, died Sunday evening Kindred Care Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Evelyn Mae (Kehoe) Phillips. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Singleton. He lived in Lynn for most of his youth and has resided in Peabody for over 60 years. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the United States Marines. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a foreman and supervisor for Eastman Gelatin in Peabody. After his retirement, he then worked as manager for Gardner Apartments in Peabody. He enjoyed traveling the back streets and main roads of New England especially in Vermont. He was a history buff and enjoyed photography. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Susan Phillips of Barrington, NH; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Peter Argeros of Peabody, and Maryellen and Dominic deLacy of Essex; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Phillips of Rowley; a brother, William Singleton of Seabrook, NH; a sister, Eleanor Coulter of Peabody; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Mark Phillips and brother of the late Ernie Phillips. His Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody faciliy to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. A visitation will be held prior to the service form 10 - 11:00 AM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
