Obituary of Americo C.R. de Mello

On Wednesday November 9, 2005 Americo C. R. de Mello died unexpectedly after a brief illness. He was 67 years old. Mr. Mello emigrated from Lisbon Portugal to Peabody at the age of 15. After leaving Pupilos do Excercio a military academy in Lisbon he continued his education at Boston University were he graduated Pre Med. During his life, Mr. Mello was very active in the community. He was a past president of the Club Louise De Camoes and co-founder of Radio Portugal and Mello's Bakery with his wife Lourdes Eiro. He was an avid sports fan and coached a local soccer team, Academica, for many years. He was a co-founder of the Portuguese Americans for Higher Education a foundation, which provides scholarships to college bound students and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Mr. Mello was most proud of his family and always inquisitive about their lives. He is survived by his sons Americo and his wife Danielle Mello of Peabody, Marco Mello, of Biddeford, ME, Ceroi and his wife Jennifer Mello of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Rieco and Jill Mello of Hollis, NH, Corei and Renee Mello of Windham, NH. and his daughter Milu and her husband Sean Sanderson of Perry Hall Maryland. Mr. Mello will be missed very much by his grandchildren Samantha, Max, Paige, Garrett, Abigayle, Luke, Collin, Maya, MacKenzie, Kirstyn, Katelyn and Rylee: His mother Deolinda, sister Nita Bruno, mother-in-law Luiza Eiro, nieces, nephews and friends. His son Erico, his father Lourival and his father-in-law Frank Eiro predecease him.
