Obituary of Jean Marie Dorsey

Jean Marie Dorsey, 82, of Peabody and formerly of Burlington and Charlestown, died early Tuesday morning at her home surrounded by her daughters and son and her faithful dog, Charlie. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward F. Dorsey. Born in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Shea) Guittarr. She was raised and educated in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School, class of 1947. After high school, Jean continued her education at Whidden Memorial Nursing School in Everett and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1950. Jean was first employed with Whidden Memorial Hospital for six years, and then, she worked for Dr. Hafferty in Charlestown from 1956 until 1970. She returned to Whidden Memorial Hospital in 1971 and worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1994. Jean enjoyed reading, crocheting, and traveling and she loved being with her family and sharing in all of their endeavors. She is survived by a son, Joseph “Jed” Dorsey of Pittsburg, NH, her two daughters, Elizabeth Dorsey Kelley of Peabody and Jane Dorsey Byers and her husband Steven of Barnstead, NH. She is also survived by her two loving granddaughters, Kara Robinson of Barnstead, NH and Evan and her husband Andrew Young of New Durham, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret’s Church, 109 Winn St., Burlington, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
