Obituary of Alfred J. Rougier

Alfred J. Rougier PEABODY—Alfred J. Rougier, 84, beloved husband of the late Rosemary (Pasquale) Rougier, passed away peacefully on Monday evening December 31, 2012 at the Atrium Facility in Danvers following a long illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Alfred T. and Dora (Vienneau) Rougier. He grew up in the Pine Hill section of Lynn, and graduated from St. Jean-Baptiste Grammar and High Schools in Lynn. He went on to study at Wentworth Institute to prepare for his career as a Draftsman. Mr. Rougier enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war he started his career with GE in Lynn, then I-Tech Corporation in Waltham. He dedicated 25 years of service with G.T.E. Sylvania as a Draftsman, and worked on intricate technology in creating more efficient light bulbs in the Ipswich plant. He retired in 1990. Al was very involved with St. Jean-Baptiste Church in Lynn. He was in the St. Jean-Baptiste Men’s Choir since childhood , and their talents were recognized throughout the North Shore. They were honored to sing in audience with the Pope John Paul II at The Vatican in May 1987. He also was a member of the Franco-American Club in Lynn, and was supportive with the activities of his children, grandchildren and friends. He is survived by three sons and a daughter, Richard & his wife Sharon Rougier of Peabody, Robert & his wife Joan of Londonderry, NH, Thomas & his wife Barbara Rougier of Salem, and Patricia Rougier of Redondo Beach, CA; his close companion and dedicated friend Shirley Jacques of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a son John Rougier, and brothers Edward Rougier of Sebastopol Calif and Raymond Rougier of Folsom, Calif.. A gathering and visitation will be held on Saturday January 5, 2013 from11 AM – 12:15 P.M. AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:15 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
