Obituary of Lucy D. "Dolly" (Budreau) McDermott

Lucy D. Dolly (Budreau) McDermott 103 years of Lynn died Monday at the Pilgrim Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Mrs. McDermott was born June 6, 1899 in Swampscott, daughter of the late John and Laura (Melanson) Budreau. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. McDermott was employed for 50 years as a fancy shoe stitcher at the former Gregory and Reed Shoe Shop in Lynn and during WWII stitched leather goggles for U.S. Pilots. She retired in 1962. She was a member of the AFL-CIO Shoe Workers Union. She was also a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Lynn. Mrs. McDermott is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth V. and Albert J. Cirafice of Beverly and Helen L. Dunn of No. Hampton NH; 3 grandchildren, Gail Ballard of No. Hampton, Peter Cirafice of Beverly and Steven Dunn of Lynn; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mame Gilbert, Asa Budreau, William Budreau, Sadie Wood and Gertrude Berrill. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may pay their respects Friday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody location (978-531-0472). Burial in St. Jean Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody MA 01960.
