Obituary of Sophie (Lachowicz) Pankauski

Sophie (Lachowicz) Pankauski PEABODY--SOPHIE (Lachowicz) PANKAUSKI, until recently a lifelong resident of Peabody, passed away on the morning of Wednesday January 2nd at Lourdes Noreen-McKeen assisted living facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is survived by her son James, her daughter in law Laura, and grandchildren Jonathan and Michael, all of Harrington Park, New Jersey; and son John of West Palm Beach, FL; she is also survived by a sister Irene Piotrowicz of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews, including Connie & Doug Vanne of Beverly and Patricia Piotrowicz of NH. Sophie moved to West Palm Beach in September of 2011, almost a year after the loss of her husband of fifty years, Alphonse. Sophie grew up in Peabody, the daughter of Felicia and Adolph Lachowicz, and worked at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. before starting a family, which she raised in their Gardner Street home. She was active with St. Joseph’s Parish before the Pulaski Street church was closed, and she and Al wintered in Jupiter, Florida for approximately twenty years. Relatives and friends may gather on Monday January 7, 2013 at the Conway Cahill-Borduer Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody from 9:00 – 10 A.M. followed by a Graveside Funeral Service and burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
