Obituary of Josephine Mary (Kasprzyk) Kurkowski

Josephine M. (Kasprzyk) Kurkowski, 94, of Peabody, died Friday evening at the Emeritus Assisted Living in Danvers after a short illness. She was the loving wife of the late Alphonse F. Kurkowski. She was born in Peabody on July 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Mariann (Orimek) Kasprzyk and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed at the former GTE Sylvania Lighting Co, Sylvan St.,Danvers plant for 30 years prior to her retirement. Josephine had been a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club and had been an active member of the former St. Joseph Church and the Rosary Sodality and sang in the choir there for many years, she later was a member at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, watching the Boston Red Sox and loved making Polish delicacies and her special brownies. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Pinkham) Kurkowski of Peabody, her grandchildren, Jason and his wife Jacqueline Kurkowski and Timothy Kurkowski all of Peabody and Matthew Kurkowski of East Boston, a great grandson, Robert Kurkowski of Peabody , a sister-in-law, Clara Kasprzyk of Peabody, a very caring nephew David Kazprzyk of Peabody. She was the mother of the late Phillip and Frank Kurkowski and the sister and sister-in-law of the late Edward and Margaret Kasprzyk, Henry and Virginia Kasprzyk, Fred and Celina Kasprzyk, Julian Kasprzyk, Bruno and Frances Kasprzyk, and Stella and Stephen Radziewicz and their son Stephen Radziewicz. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6- 8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St. ,Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody/Salem line. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Salem.
