Obituary of Jennie M. "Sister" (Soucy) Sweeter

Jennie M. Sister (Soucy) Sweeter, 84, died unexpectedly early Monday afternoon at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was the devoted wife of the late Michael Sweeter. Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Effie (MacGregor) Soucy. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1936. Mrs. Sweeter worked as an Assembler with GTE Sylvania at the Loring Ave branch in Salem, and was a Retail Sales Clerk for with Almy’ s Store in Salem before retiring 46 years ago. She enjoyed arts & crafts projects, knitting, crocheting, and collecting owls. She also loved bowling and being with her family. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce & Gloria Sweeter and Dana & Nancy Sweeter, both of Danvers, and Kevin & Mary Sweeter of Peabody; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Joe D’ Amico of Nahant; one brother, William Sam Soucy of Peabody, 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Sweeter and a sister, Helen H. Page. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
