Obituary of Josephine (Corso) Hersey

Josephine (Corso) Hersey PEABODY—Josephine (Corso) Hersey, 84, beloved wife of Frederick Hersey, died unexpectedly on Friday afternoon January 18, 2013 at the Beverly Hospital. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Reese) Corso. She grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School, Class of 1946. She then attended Fisher Junior College. Mrs. Hersey enjoyed her nurturing role at home with her family. She was also a Home Health Aide with the City of Peabody for about 10 years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Adelaide’s Church of Peabody where she was active in the Catechism Group, and was a woman with a devoted faith. She is survived by her sons Michael & his wife Jackie Hersey of Salem, NH, Scott & his wife Charlene Hersey of Billerica, and Paul Hersey of Peabody; daughters Deborah Hersey of Peabody, Elizabeth & her husband Brad Chaffee and Suzanne & her husband Stephen Mearls all of Billerica; seven grandchildren, April Hersey of NH, Mandy Calouro of Haverhill, Dalton, Valerie, and Sarah Chaffee of Billerica, Matthew Hersey of Billerica, and Kasey Mearls of Billerica; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Archie Jr., and Gavin; two sisters, Irene & her husband Michael Sirianni of FL and Catherine Plucker of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death recently by her son Brian Hersey this week, her husband Frederick, and brothers Joseph, Michael, James and Anthony Corso. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
