Obituary of Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Keenan) Quinn
Elizabeth “Betty” A. Quinn, age 86, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late William S. Quinn, died peacefully Wednesday evening surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Quinn was born and raised in Watertown, daughter of the late James and Margaret (McAteer) Keenan. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1944.
Mrs. Quinn followed her childhood sweetheart, Billy, to the North Shore after World War II and raised a family that remains tight knit to this day. After her four children were grown she worked for Danvers Savings Bank until her retirement at age 78. She then began volunteering in the thrift shop at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John’s and was a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She enjoyed a good party, spending time with her many friends, and above all cherished each moment she spent with her family.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Anne and Donald Oldmixon of Attleboro, Kevin and Hélène Quinn of Wakefield, Jeanne and Jeff Seaman of Beverly, and MaryEllen and Jeff Widberg of Peabody; her grandchildren Beth Oldmixon and her husband Robert Banks of Beverly, Mark Oldmixon and his wife Lael of Fairbanks, Alaska, Elissa, Jonathan, Casey and Rory Quinn, all of Wakefield, Patrick and Katie Seaman of Beverly and Jared Widberg of Peabody; her two great grandchildren Quinn and Mae Oldmixon; her sisters Joan Clifford and her husband Charles of Foxboro and Mary Keenan of Watertown; and her many nieces and nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Reverend Bernard J. Keenan.
Mrs. Quinn’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, January 28, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requested that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Catholic TV, 34 Chestnut St., P.O. Box 9169, Watertown, MA 02471. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
