Obituary of Elvira Aguiar Cunha
Elvira Aguiar Cunha, 94 years, wife of the late Manuel Aguiar and the late Clarencio Cunha died Tuesday evening at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody.
Mrs. Cunha was born May 26, 1908 in Cruz da Graciosa, Azores, Portugal daughter of the late Francisca Candida and emigrated to the United States 28 years ago making her home in Peabody. She was a housewife and mother devoting herself to her family. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. She enjoyed crocheting and caring for her plants.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Normano M. and Lucia Aguiar of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; a daughter, Clarinda A. Cunha of Peabody; two daughters-in-law, Maria Aguiar and Mary Cunha both of Peabody; a son-in-law, Jose Brasil of Portugal; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Silvino Aguiar and Maria Brasil and the great grandmother of the late Diana Cunha.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 3 to 6 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
