Obituary of Marian A. (Ripley) Nicholas

Marian A. (Ripley) Nicholas PEABODY—Marian A. (Ripley) Nicholas, 85, wife of the late Leo G. Nicholas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Peabody. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Agnes (Glencross) Ripley, and was a lifelong resident of the city. She graduated from Peabody High School. Mrs. Nicholas enjoyed being at home with her family, and she also worked with Jordan Marsh Department Store. She was active in the 2nd Congregational Church in her neighborhood where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and later was involved with the South Congregational Church. She will mostly be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by two sons Robert L. Nicholas of Peabody and Edward & his wife Adele Nicholas of Newmarket, NH; a daughter Joanne & her husband Joel Marie of Nahant; four grandchildren, Michelle Nicholas of Johnstown, RI, Michael Nicholas of Newmarket, NH, Gregory Marie of Marblehead and Eric Marie of Nahant; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ripley of Rye, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a brother Donald Ripley and sister Bernice Larsen. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3:30 – 7:30 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
