Obituary of James M. Keenan
James M. Keenan, 69, loving husband of Francine L. (Kravchuk) Keenan of Peabody, died on Friday, February 1, 2013 with his family at his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Jim was born in Brockton, on October 11, 1943, son of the late James and Madelyne (Clifford) Keenan. He was raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School in 1962. Following High School, Jim enlisted into the United Sates Army and served as a Paratrooper. Prior to receiving his honorable discharge in 1968, Jim was with the 744th QM Det. USAREUR Command and was a specialist Parcht Rigger and Inspector.
Jim was employed for 27 years with the Bricklayer Union Local 3 in Boston until his retirement in 2009. Jim was a loving father who devoted his life to creating a home for his family. Later, he enjoyed spending dedicated time with his 6 grandchildren whom he cherished. During his high school years he played hockey and later in life played with the Senior League at the Peabody rink. As an avid golfer, Jim played with the senior league at The Meadows at Peabody, and he and his son organized the Camp Golf Tournament which was held every September for the past 20 years. He enjoyed spending family time on week ends at his camp in Tamworth, NH, vacationed throughout the world with his wife Francine and was a lifetime member of the Peabody Lodge of Elks # 1409 in Peabody.

In addition to his wife Francine with whom he shared 45 years of marriage, Jim is survived by his loving children and their spouses, James M. Keenan Jr., Kelly A. Lomasney and Edward J. III all of Peabody, and Tobi and Todd M. Dabrieo of Fremont, NH; 6 cherished grandchildren, Todd Dabrieo Jr., Kira Dabrieo, Lara Dabrieo all of NH, Madelyne Lomasney, Hailee Lomasney and Brooke Lomasney all of Peabody; his siblings and their spouses, William and Cindy Keenan of No. Reading, and Elizabeth and Michael Nolan of Lowell; his mother-in-law, Frances L. Kravchuk of Peabody; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Nina and Gary Roltsch, Michael and Donna Kravchuk, Toni Cassidy, Michael Cassidy, Michelle and Anthony Kolodziej all of Peabody, Linda and Paul Labrecque of ME, Stephen and Bonnie Kravchuk, Susan and Daniel McClory all of Middleton, and Karl and Marylou Kravchuk of Groveland; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Michael F. Kravchuk.
Jim’s celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
