Obituary of Edward M.F. Flynn
Edward M.F. Flynn, 90, of Danvers and formerly of Saugus and Lynn, died Sunday evening at Putnam Farm in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late James P. and Ellen C. (Maney) Flynn. He was raised and educated in Lynn, later lived in Saugus for 55 years and has spent the last year living in Danvers.
Edward entered the United States Coast Guard and served during World War II for five years and obtained the rank of Chief before being honorably discharged in 1946.
After his military service, Edward was employed with Exxon from 1947 until 1982 as 1st Engineer. He also served aboard the 1st North Slope Crude Shipment via Trans Alaska Pipeline to Benicia Refinery in 1977.
Edward is survived by a niece and two nephews, Barbara J. Nunes of Danvers, James J. Flynn, Jr., of Danvers, and Robert Brown of Hillsboro, NH, and is also survived by many cousins, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James J. Flynn, Sr., and Rita M. Brown.
His funeral service will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. John’sChurch, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn.
