Obituary of Jack W. Iwan

Jack W. Iwan, 83, of Danvers and formally of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at Salem Hospital after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Matilda (Krawczyk) Iwan with whom he shared over 56 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late John and Victoria (Daniel) Iwan. He was educated in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1938. He has spent the last 51 years living in Danvers. He was a veteran of WWII, who served with the United States Army and was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He later worked in the Peabody Leather industry as a foreman for several leather brokers, before retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Michael’ s Society and Holy Name Society, both in Peabody. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling to Cape Cod and Bermuda. Besides his loving wife of 57 years, he is survived by a daughter, Paula Turcotte of Framingham; a sister, Stephanie Pavenski of Andover; a niece, Carole Lentz of Andover and a great niece and nephew and a great great niece and nephew. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Discalced Chapel, Mt. Carmel Road, Danvers to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visitation on Sunday from 4-7 PM.
