Obituary of Marie E. (Callahan) Weinstein

Marie E. (Callahan) Weinstein, 91, of Peabody, wife of the late Barnett “Barney” Weinstein, MD, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Danvers Twin Oaks Care and Rehabilitation Center. Marie was born in Peabody, on November 20, 1921, daughter of Cornelius and Anna F. (King) Callahan. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. Prior to her marriage in 1955, Marie was employed as a supervisor at the New England Telephone Company Peabody Office. Marie was a daily communicant at the Discalced Carmelite Nuns Chapel in Danvers. For many years, Marie was an active Auxiliary member of the America Medical Association, the Massachusetts Medical Society Association and the Essex South District of Massachusetts Medical Society, a life member of the Peabody and Danvers Historical Societies, Glen Magna in Danvers, and a Charter Member of the House of Seven Gables Settlement Association in Salem. Marie is survived by her many cousins, second cousins, the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, and her numerous friends. Marie’s family will received relatives and friends on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, (downtown location next to St. John’s Church & Peabody City Hall) Peabody. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Discalced Carmelite Nuns Chapel, 15 Mt. Carmel Rd., Danvers. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s name to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt. Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA 01923. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers.
