Obituary of Ruth Marie Lowe

Ruth Marie (Fitzmaurice) Lowe, RN, 93, of Peabody, died Monday evening at the Aviv Center in Peabody following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Arthur L. Lowe with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Feeney) Fitzmaurice. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of St. John’sHigh School, class of 1937. After high school, Ruth attended Beverly Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1941 as a Registered Nurse. Ruth was employed with Beverly Hospital for over 46 years as a nurse and Evening Director of Nursing before retiring in 1987. She was a hard working mom who was proud of her family and her greatest achievement was seeing all of her children receiving their college degrees as well as her own BA from Emmanuel College in 1980. She is survived by her six children, Larry Lowe, Stephen and his wife Paula Lowe, Richard Lowe, Robin Helas, and Mary Beth and her husband Ken Stantial all of Peabody and Gail Covelluzzi and her companion Michael Pivacek of Marblehead, her brother, John Fitzmaurice, Jr. of Peabody, her eight grandchildren, Stephen and Christopher Lowe, Jessica Shea, Christina Stevens, MaryKate and Charles Helas, and Nicole and Amanda Stantial, and is also survived by a great grandchild, Connor Lowe. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Collins, Helen Luisi, and Patricia Kelley. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., and (Downtown Facility) Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Friends of Peabody Council on Aging, 75 Central St., Peabody, MA01960.
