Obituary of Gladys I Buckley

Gladys I. (Pollock) Buckley, 82, of Peabody and formerly of Lynnfield, died Monday morning at the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert F. Buckley. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Lucy (Stanton) Pollock. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1949. After high school, Gladys was employed as a clerk at the Registry of Deeds in Salem for eleven years and then worked at the South Hamilton Post Office until her retirement in 1975. Upon her retirement she moved to Lynnfield where she lived for over 27 years before her husband’s death in 2002. She then moved to Brooksby Village where she has lived for the past ten years. She is survived by her son, Philip Buckley and his wife Rose of Quincy, her daughter, Susan Bourdon and her husband Tom of Peabody and is also survived by her husbands children, Barbara Abel and her husband Ernie of West Broomfield, MI, Joyce Gagnon and her husband Victor, and Maureen Carroll and her husband David, all of Georgetown, her beloved grandchildren, Jason Abel, Rebecca Salama, Sarah Lane, Abigail Gagnon, David and Robert Carroll, Holly Bourdon, and Zhenya Buckley, and also by six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Pollock, Joyce Duncanson, and Carolyn Grant. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in WillowCemetery, Lynnfield.
