Obituary of Josephine Mary Magesky

Josephine Mary Magesky, 93, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. Born in Bridgeville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie (Filipowicz) Magesky. She later moved to Peabody where attended school and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Josephine was employed with GTE Sylvania at the Loring Ave Plant in Salem for over 46 years before retiring in 1982. She had many responsibilities at the Plant from assembler to reliever and organizer and enjoyed every aspect of her responsibilities and was a member of the Quarter Century Club as well. Josephine was very active in the community and was a volunteer at the Peabody Community Life Center for over thirty years and received many accolades from city officials and businessman. She also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling and belonged to a walking and book clubs on the north shore. Josephine is survived by her sister, Pauline Wojtonik of Derry, NH, her sister-in-law, Mona Magesky of Peabody, and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Stella Magesky, Anna Rybinsky and Walter Magesky, John Magesky, Julia Maney, Mary Jean, and Adolph "Ace" Magesky. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
