Obituary of Alberto Pereira

Alberto Pereira, 83, of Peabody, died early Wednesday afternoon at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Alberto and Benvinda Pereira. He was raised and educated in Portugal before immigrating to the United States in 1967 as has been a resident of Peabody since. He had worked at Masino Leather in Peabody for about 5 years before retiring do to an eye injury at work. He is survived by seven sons, Leonardo Pereira of Portugal, Horacio, Gilberto, Edwin, and Manuel Pereira, all of Peabody, Jose Pereira of Beverly, Harold Pereira of Boston; three daughters, Maria Branco and Debbie Goodwin, both of Peabody and Durvalina Serqueira of Maine; 2 sisters, Maria Pereira of Peabody and Ida Pereira of Canada, and 16 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Manuel Perry and Joe Pereira and Benvinda Pereira. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Sunday from 3-6 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
