Obituary of Effie K. Orgettas

Effie K. Orgettas, 65, of South Hamilton, died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Effie was born in Peabody, on August 17, 1947, daughter of the late Michael and Rena Irene (Vounessea) Orgettas. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1967. She later pursued her education at Salem State College. Effie was employed as a secretary at Tan-Rite Leather Corporation and Travel Leather for 10 years; and owned a videography business. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her daughter Christina. Effie was an accomplished musician and singer who was granted an audition with Robert Goulet and recorded an album with RCA studios. Her hobbies included mechanical drawing and drafting, and she excelled as a free hand cartoonist and was an avid gardener. Effie is survived by her daughter, Major Christina E. Sampsonis, of Peabody, serving with The Massachusetts Air National Guard; her siblings and their spouses, Steven and Ann Orgettas of Swampscott; Tessie Geomelos and Loretta Orgettas both of Peabody; Ruth and Matthew Ambeliotis of Middleton; 2 Godchildren, Michael Geomelos and George Economos and many nieces and nephews; her former husband James G. Sampsonis of Peabody; her faithful canine companion, Otis. She was predeceased by her long time companion, Nick Spiliotis, brother-in -law Peter Geomelos, and her wonderful Boxers, Roxy and Simon. Effie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody.
