Obituary of Anthony Totilo, Sr.
Anthony Totilo Sr., 84, loving husband of Adele (DeLuca) Totilo of Peabody, died on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.
Anthony was born in Danvers, on May 27, 1928, son of the late Carlo and Santina (Sebastiano) Totilo. He was raised in Danvers graduating from Danvers High School. He pursued his education at Bentley College in Boston majoring in accounting. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Peabody where they’ve resided for the past 50 years.
During his early years, Anthony was an opera singer whose stage name was “Tony Marlowe”, and who actually sang at one of JFK’s gathering while he was a Massachusetts Senator. Anthony was a self-employed accountant who worked until his retirement in 1983. He was a loving father who devoted his life to creating a home for his family, and later was so proud of his 6 grandchildren and their accomplishments. One of his favorite times was cooking and entertaining his family at the weekly Sunday dinner. As hobbies he enjoyed gardening and watching the Boston Bruins.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Rosemary and Domenico Ricci, Rita and Mario Vecchiarello all of Peabody, Lisa and John Camara, Patricia Totilo all of Danvers, and Carlo Totilo of Peabody; his grandchildren, Anthony Ricci, Bianca, DeAnna and Alana Vecchiarello, Sabrina and Tayla Camara; a sister-in-law, Matilde Estee and her husband Richard of Peabody; a niece, Tina Williams and her husband Dan; grand niece and grand nephew, Tanya Williams and Jeffrey Williams all of Peabody; also numerous relatives residing in Italy and his faithful 14 year old Shitzshu companion Bella. In 2009, he was predeceased by his son Anthony Totilo Jr.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Red Cross, 85 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960.
