Joaquina (Marques) Matos
PEABODY—Joaquina (Marques) Matos, 83, beloved wife of the late Jaime Matos, died Sunday March 3, 2013 at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers following a long illness.
Born in Faia, Guarda, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joao Marques and Maria do Carmo Cabido. She came to the United States in 1971, and lived in Peabody for the last 41 years.
Mrs. Matos worked at Bleyer Industries.
She was very active member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody, where she was involved in many of the church’s activities. She also enjoyed the Torigian Senior Center where she loved playing Bingo.
She is survived by a brother Jose & his wife Italina Marques of Peabody, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Alexandria Marques Moura.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday at 8 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. Visiting hours today (Monday) from 6 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
