Obituary of Antonio Vidinha
Antonio Vidinha, 80, of Peabody, passed away early Saturday, March 2, 2013 at NSMC-Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Couto) Vidinha.
Antonio was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, son of the late Francisco and Virginia (Hayes) Vidinha. He was raised and educated in the Azores and emigrated to the United States 44 years ago.
Antonio worked for many years as a leather worker for Flynn Tan Leather Manufacturing in Salem until his retirement. Following his retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies and interests, such as tending to his garden and grapevines, trying his luck at scratch tickets, watching his favorite soccer team, Sporting, and also enjoyed watching the Bruins with his family. Antonio was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and also a member of the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost Society in Peabody.
Besides his loving wife, Antonio is survived by five sons and their spouses, Edward Vidinha of Peabody, Gino Vidinha and his companion Brenda McMahon of Salem, Manuel and Sonia Vidinha of Salem, Antonio Vidinha of Peabody, and Nuno and Mellissa Vidinha of Lynn; his grandchildren, Edward, Nelly, Brian, Alyssa, Nuno, and Annalee Vidinha; his great-grandchildren, Jax, Isabella, Sasha Vidinha, and Jenalisa and Tony Solino. He is also survived by a brother, Arthur Vidinha of Ontario, Canada. He was predeceased by his siblings, Manuel Vidinha and Maria Saint.
His visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 8 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave. Peabody.
