Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" L. (Dowd) Golden
Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Dowd) Golden, 93, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn and Revere, died Monday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerald J. Golden with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Revere, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Plunkett) Dowd. She was raised in Beachmont and was a graduated from Revere High School. She later moved to Lynn and has spent the last 58 years living in Peabody.
Betty enjoyed spending her time with her children and later her grandchildren and sharing in all of their endeavors. Upon her husband’s retirement she enjoyed antiquing throughout the North Shore.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Gerald D. and his wife Karen Golden of Williamsburg, VA, Patrick J. Golden of Derry, NH, and Daniel J. and his wife Irene Golden of Winthrop, her sister, Helen Ulman of Lynn, and also by four grandchildren and a great child. She was the sister of the late Edmund and Bernard Dowd, Agnes, and Mary O’Leary.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
