Obituary of Patricia A. (Wood) Wythe

Patricia A. (Wood) Wythe PEABODY—Patricia (Wood) Wythe, 75, a lifelong Peabody resident, retired employee of the Peabody District Court, and active parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 2, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody. Pat Wythe enjoyed a long and fulfilling life with her late husband, Tom, a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the Boston Police Department, her children, Joseph and Ellen, and her lifelong friend from grade school, Joan Horrigan Melanson. She called Peabody home throughout her life, but her adventures took her across the nation and overseas. She graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in Peabody, and began her career at Boston Logan International Airport before taking a career break to rear her young children. She resumed her career at Peabody District Court, where she was a longtime employee in the clerk’s office and later in judicial chambers as the assistant to the presiding justices of the court. Pat Wythe’s quick wit, impish grin, and service to the court made her a fixture in Peabody, and it was rare to go to an establishment in Peabody where people didn’t know her. Retiring in 2003 gave her more time for her love of travel. When she wasn’t enjoying time with Tom, she and her friend, Joan, would hit the road to destinations near and far—everywhere from Century House to Aruba and from St. John’s bingo to Las Vegas, Texas, and Florida. Pat is survived by her two children, Joseph Wythe and Ellen Wythe Horrigan; her brother, Joseph Wood; her grandchildren, Brooke and Lexi Farnum, her son-in-law, David Horrigan III; her nieces, Barbara and Sarah McHugh, Marie Gisi and her husband, Gregory, and the late Paula Dubudieux; her lifelong friends, Joan and Robert Melanson and their children, Pat’s godson, Robert and Laura, and many additional cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday March 8, 2013 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn Street, Peabody. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
