Obituary of Eleanor C. (Buono) Vargas

Eleanor C. (Buono) Vargas, 70, loving wife of John F. Vargas Jr., of Peabody, died on Thursday at her home with her family at her side. Eleanor was born in Somerville, on July 31, 1942, the daughter of the late Carlo M. and Eleanor (Sullo) Buono. She was raised in Somerville and graduated from SomervilleHigh School in 1960. She pursued her education at Bay State Academy Flight Attendant School. She resided in Medford before making her home in Peabody in 1975. Eleanor owned and operated The Polished Onyx in Lynn and Peabody from 1985 – 1995. She was a loving mother who had a passion for family, and later enjoyed spending countless hours following the progress of her 6 grandchildren. The family summered for many years at their camp in Maine, and traveled to Europe and Florida. As a hobby she enjoyed watching her T.V. shows and visiting casinos in Connecticut, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. In addition to her husband with whom she shared over 40 years of marriage, Eleanor is survived by her children and their spouses, Nicholas J. and Tyra Vargas of Hampstead, NH, Ronald J. Vargas of San Francisco, CA, David J. Vargas of Atlantic City, NJ, John F. Vargas III and Jennifer Vargas of Bradford, and Michele and Alan Perlman of Bentonville, AR; her grandchildren, Nicholas J. Vargas Jr., Shannon Vargas, Ella Vargas, John F. Vargas IV, Jane Vargas and Melissa Perlman; her siblings and their spouses, Irene and Richard Rose of Hillsboro, NH, Lorraine Lepore of Peabody, Carlo Buono of Lynn, Joseph Buono of Somerville, and Loretta and David Lane of Milford, NH; and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial in Cedar Gove Cemetery, Peabody.
