Obituary of Maria Conceicao San Jose

Maria Conceicao San Jose, 76, of Salem, died Thursday evening at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Manuel Sanjose. Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carolina Borges (Linhares) Rocha. She was raises and educated in Portugal and later immigrated to the United States in 1968. She lived in Peabody for 12 years and has spent the last 32 years living in Salem. Maria was employed at Salem Hospital in the Laundry department for over 32 years before retiring in 2001. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by a sister, Maria Rocha of Portugal, a brother-in-law, Manuel Rodrigues of Cumberland, RI, a sister-in-law, Maria Rocha of Peabody and by several other family members, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Antonio Rocha, Nazare Rodrigues, and Carolina and Durvalina Rocha. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
